At the weekly meeting of the Kiwanis Club of the Sandhills on June 18th, Dr. David Kee was the guest speaker. Dr. Kee is a neurosurgeon at FirstHealth and is also an Associate Professor in the Division of Neurosurgery at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Kee spoke to the members about trends in health care in the coming years as well as differences in health care from 20 years ago to the present. His talk also included a short history of neurosurgery in Moore County at FirstHealth.

Welcome! - The Kiwanis Club of the Sandhills was founded in 1922 and now has over 160 active members.

Meetings - Prospective members and visiting Kiwanians are invited to join us for lunch at our weekly meetings on Wednesday at noon at  National Golf Club.

Speaker: George Hillard
Topic: Ancient Arches and Doorways
George continues to study early English architecture. In
2008, he visited as many sites of arches and doorways as
he could, some of which date from Roman times in Britain.

Speaker: Chad McGlothlin
Topic: Care of the Aging Population
There are numerous challenges in meeting the care needs of
an aging population. Chad McGlothlin, owner of Comfort
Keepers, will discuss the current options available to
individuals requiring assistance with their daily needs, and
challenges that will likely arise ion the future.

Speaker: Scott Dawson
Topic: Presentation of the Junior Builder’s Cup
The Junior Builders Cup recognizes the outstanding
graduating senior in Moore County. Our high schools
nominate candidates and the Club’s selection committee has
the difficult task of evaluating achievement in academics,
athletics, school activities, and community service.
